The Genuine Gemstone Company has launched a set of new apps for smart TVs and iOS and Android users.
The launches follow the unveiling of the firm’s new international website in October, and are “a natural progression” as it “bids to become the biggest online jewellery retailer in the UK”, the firm said in a statement.
The iOS and Android apps enable customers to watch Gemporia’s online auction rooms, Gems TV and Rocks TV and The Lounge, on the go. Users will be able to browse, bid and buy directly from their smartphone and prospective buyers will also be able to message the television studios and interact with auction presenters in real time.
Steve Bennett, founder and CEO of Gemporia, said: “We’re looking to merge the comfort of watching from the sofa with the rich experience of online. These apps allow our customers to view our channels and interact with us however and whenever they want.
“The iOS app in companion mode provides second-screen information to accompany the live TV presentation and easily interact with us and purchase. Or the app can be used standalone to view any of our UK or international live broadcasts, with all prices displayed in local currency.
“Smart TV is set to revolutionise the world of app development this year and Gemporia.com aims to be at the forefront of innovation. Customers can now view previous items and timed TV auctions at the click of a button. The app allows viewers to experience a sophisticated web driven service via a television.”
