Fellows reports successful first monthly watch auction

Fellows announced that its inaugural ‘The Watch Sale’ – a new monthly watch auction – was successful with a 93% sale rate.

The Watch Sale, which launched on Monday, April 20, marked a move away from the company’s separate specialist watch sale and specialist pocket watch sale, which were held on a quarterly basis, and merged the two auctions together.

Fellows said that the move cements its position as a “major force” in the UK watch market, boasting higher sales rate and more specialist watches than any other auctioneer.

Stephen Whittaker, managing director at Fellows, said: “The first of our Watch Sales launched with an excellent Hammer total of just under £380K significantly above the estimate for the auction.

“This proves that with clear cataloguing, sensible estimates, detailed descriptions and high quality images each monthly Watch Sale is on track to be a huge success”.

Some of the key sales in its first monthly watch auction included a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date II watch which sold for £13,000 and a Breitling Professional Emergency watch which fetched £7,400.

The Watch Sale offers a constantly changing  inventory at a wide range of price points, for contemporary pieces and rare, vintage, watches.

The auction also allows bidders, unable to visit the saleroom in person, to view multiple high-resolution photographs online along with full, detailed condition reports and interactive 360 degree imagery.
