The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has appointed a new executive director, Andrew Bone, as part of the organisation’s ongoing management restructure.

Bone, who has extensive experience in the diamond and marketing sectors, has previously worked at De Beers and was also behind many industry initiatives including the Kimberley Process, the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI) and the World Diamond Council (WDC).

At RJC, Bone will work closley with the board of directors and the management team to “further entrench the RJC’s value proposition to the jewellery supply chain, mine to retail”, according to the organisation.

He said: “I am delighted to join the RJC and consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by a skilled and energetic team, and supported by a dedicated and diligent board of directors. Although there are many challenges ahead, there are many more opportunities.”

In addition, James Courage’s extended term as chair of the RJC board of directors concluded yesterday. Vice-chair Charles Chaussepied has been appointed interim chair as of today (Wednesday, July 1) until a new chairman is elected later this year.
