Watches worth more than £20,000 have been stolen from a jewellers in Ambleside, Cumbria, over the bank holiday weekend.
The incident happened on Saturday, August 29, at 3:40am when a metal traffic restriction bollard was used to smash the glass and gain access to the window display of Horsman’s Jewellers on Lake Road.
Police were alerted to an alarm activation at the premises and said that upon arrival they found ‘extensive’ damage to the front of the shop.
A large quantity of wristwatches, including men’s Sekonda timepieces, were taken during the raid with the total haul estimated to be valued over £20,000.
Police said that enquiries at the scene have led to investigating officers seeking to trace the driver and occupants of a white or light coloured saloon vehicle, which was seen to make off at the time of the burglary.
Mike Wallace, detective sergeant at South Cumbria’s criminal investigation department, said: “We have already spoken to several members of the public who have assisted our investigation but appeal to anyone we have not identified with relevant information to make contact.
