Jacobs the Jewellers launches 2016 young designer award

Jacobs the Jewellers has launched the second year of its Reading-based young jewellery designer competition.

The competition, which is held in association with the Bishopsland Educational Trust, HS Walsh and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, has been launched after the success of its inaugural contest last year.

Four young jewellery designers at Bishopsland – a jewellery design postgraduate course provider based in South Oxfordshire – will showcase one piece of silver and one piece of jewellery at the store, competing for the best design in each category.

In the exhibition period, from 6 June to 27 June, the public will be able to view and try the designs. They will then be able to vote for their favourite design in each category at the jewellery store.

Adam Jacobs, partner of the jewellery retail firm, said: “After the success of last year’s event with 100 plus votes, Jacobs the jewellers is delighted to be launching and hosting this unique opportunity for young jewellery designers in the Reading and the Berkshire area.

“Our customers loved seeing the new and exciting designs and we can’t wait to welcome the Bishopsland gang back, particularly this year, Reading’s official year of Culture.”

Voting will close on the 25 June, with winners being announced at Jacobs the Jewellers on 27 June.
