An ex-swimwear model has been jailed for 15 years for murdering her ex-boyfriend – a millionaire and jewellery store owner – in Spain.

Mayka Kukucova shot Andrew Bush three times in 2014 at his Spanish villa near Marbella on the Costa del Sol after arriving with his Russian girlfriend Maria Korotaeva, 23.

The 26-year-old was sentenced by a court in Malaga to an additional six months for breaking into his home and was ordered to pay £122,000 in compensation to Bush’s daughter Ellie, 21, and £30,500 to his sister Rachel.

Kukucova could have been sentenced to 22 years but Judge Ernesto Carlos Manzano told the court he took into account her “heartbroken apology”.

Bush, 48, who was a well known jewellery store owner in Bristol and was previously married to BBC Bristol presenter Sam Mason, met Kukucova when she worked in his shop. They were together for two and a half years but split six months before the murder.

She told the court she had “never meant to hurt” Bush and cried when photos of his body were shown.

The court heard how Kukucova had waited for Bush as his Spanish home and shot him twice in the head before making off in his Hummer.

She later handed herself in to authorities in her home country of Slovakia.
