The event at Guildhall on Friday, 3 June, was attended by the city’s finest independent businesses, with rally driving champion Penny Mallory kicking off proceedings and the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Jane Rutter, inviting attendees to eat a three-course meal.
The award for ‘Independent Business of the Year’ was sponsored by the Winchester Business Improvement District (BID), a non-profit organisation that supports the local area and its businesses, working towards a greener, cleaner and safer city.
The winner of the award had to demonstrate to the judges that they could provide a “first-class level of customer service, consistently excellent customer engagement, as well as the ability to adapt to consumer and trading trends”.
A statement from Jeremy France read: “The team at Jeremy France Jewellers have been overwhelmed by their customers’ support, and feel immensely honored by this achievement; standing proud as an independent, family-run jewellers at the heart of Winchester high street.”
The company was also a finalist in the ‘Service Excellence’ category.
