Christie’s has announced that it has selected lots from the past, as well as a selection of “love-inspired” pieces, ahead of its ‘For the Love of Gifts Past and Present’ sale.

Pieces have been selected from its upcoming ‘Magnificent Jewels’ auction which is scheduled to take place later this year in May and June, in both Geneva and Hong Kong respectively.

Pieces include a heart-shaped coloured diamond and diamond earring worth between $40,000 (£29,222) and $60,000 (£43,833) which has been showcased at its latest New York sale between 27 January and 10 February.

Upcoming auctions are set to offer a Faberge tiara, which was a wedding gift from Frederick Francis IV, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin to his bride Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Cumberland.

Furthermore, an emerald and diamond brooch which was inherited from Catherine the Great and given in 1874 by Tsar Alexander II to Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, will be on sale at the auction.
