Christie’s September Jewels sale reaches £2.26m

Christie’s has revealed that its September Jewels Online (September 14-23) sale achieved a total of $3.1m (£2.26m) with 140% hammer above low estimate and 91% sold by lot.

The sale saw global participation with registered bidders from 32 countries and attracted 20% first-time registrants.

Leading the sale were white diamonds offered at “no reserve”, including a Harry Winston diamond ring of 5.03 carats, which sold for $175,000 (£128,000) and diamond studs of 3.13 and 3.01 carats, which realized $137,500 (£100,500).

The sale also achieved strong results for an assemblage of sapphires, the birthstone for the month of September, including a sapphire and diamond ring of 12.32 carats that sold for $106,250, (£77,700).

In addition, a diamond, sapphire and emerald ring sold for $50,000, (£36,500) sapphire and diamond earrings sold for $30,000 (£22,000) and a retro sapphire and gold bracelet sold for $20,000 (£14,600).
