Hallmarking dropped by 3.5% in November, from last month’s 896,622 to 865,515, according to new data from the Birmingham Assay Office.
Despite the overall drop the number of gold pieces hallmarked rose 4.9% to 405,935, up from 387,058.
This increase was driven mostly by a 10.4% in 375 gold from 232,810 pieces hallmarked up to 257,018.
Silver saw the biggest drop in number with a decline of 11.1% from 477,285 down to 424,130.
This was mostly caused by the drop of 12.4% seen by silver 925, which had 472,864 pieces hallmarked last month compared to 414,357 this.
Platinum had a 9.3% increase from 32,037, up to 35,011, while palladium saw an 81.4% increase from 242 up to 439.
