Hallmarking figures fall 11%

Hallmarking fell by an average of 11% in May 2018 compared with the same period the previous year, according to figures compiled by the Birmingham Assay Office.
The average volume of all precious metals fell this month when compared to the same period the previous year.
Gold fell by 8.5% to 294,530 and silver dropped by 14.5% from 376,934 compared with 322,229 the previous year.
Palladium and platinum also dropped by 3.7% and 1.2% respectively. Overall the total volumes decreased from 732,159 in 2017 to 649,602 in 2018.
