Peter Jackson the Jeweller has announced it is closing after 44 years, following the eponymous owner’s decision to retire.

Reflecting on more than four decades in operation, the Preston-based jeweller said its run was marked by some of its customer’s most cherished moments, such as engagements, weddings, christenings, graduations, anniversaries.

The company added that it had served multiple generations, crafting engagement rings for the children of former clients and providing retirement gifts for those who purchased their very first watch on their first day of work.

Peter Jackson was first established in 1982 in Preston and expanded to Blackburn in 1988.

In 2019, it had additional locations in Bury and Carlisle, although these shops shuttered in 2022.

Jackson said: “I am immensely proud to have 10 colleagues, many of whom you will know personally, who have been with me for more than 10 years, 6 of them for more than 20 years. We could never have achieved everything we have without their dedication and support.

“We have worked with some of the world’s leading luxury brands and have supported many charities and worthy causes, and now, with a combination of apprehension and excitement I have decided that the time is right for me to retire. It has been a difficult and emotional decision, but I am looking forward to the challenges and adventures that may lie ahead.”
