Raw Pearls has announced that it will absorb the operations of Samuel Jones Pearls, starting Monday 20 April.

Samuel Jones Pearls, one of the pearl sector’s oldest names, was established in 1916 and is acknowledged as the first UK importer of cultured pearls.

The company has historic links to the Japanese pearl industry, and said it has established a “reputation for quality, expertise, and trusted customer relationships” over several decades.

The business will now be run by Raw Pearls, headed by Miranda Raw, following the retirement of Samuel Jones owners Richard and Claire Maymon.

While both brands will fall under a single company, Raw Pearls said each will remain aligned with its respective heritage and product lineup.

Raw Pearls will sustain its primary specialism in freshwater pearls, while Samuel Jones Pearls’ work will remain rooted in Japanese saltwater pearls.

Customers will be able to access both collections through a single point of contact.

Raw said: “It is a privilege to take on such a respected and historic name within the pearl trade. Samuel Jones Pearls has built an extraordinary legacy, particularly through its long-standing relationships and expertise in Japanese pearls. Our aim is to continue that legacy while ensuring customers benefit from the combined strengths of both businesses.

“The transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity for existing customers. The Samuel Jones brand will continue to offer its most popular, well-established product lines and services.”

Richard Maymon added: “We are delighted to be handing Samuel Jones Pearls over to Miranda Raw. Her experience, energy and reputation within the trade make her the ideal person to take the business forward, while maintaining the standards and service our customers expect.”
