“Captivated” by the way in which intimate items like underwear, pillow-cases and sheets are both privately used and publicly displayed on a washing line, Jung was struck by the similarity to jewellery where highly personal objects are worn on the body in full public view.

A statement by Ducas read: “Attracted to the texture, smell and symbolism of laundry as a tranquilising experience rooted in the home, as well as being captivated by the enjoyment of the process and ceremony of laundry, Diana was inspired to create this subtle and sensitive collection.

“The image of billowing pillow cases hanging on a laundry line left a strong impression on Diana who perceives pillows as an intimate personal possession which is used next to the skin in a private space, but despite being such an intimate item, they are frequently displayed in public.”

It continued: “These ideas and observation inspired a collection of pillow forms that symbolise the nostalgia of an object used in personal space yet designed to be displayed in a public setting by being worn.”
