Organisers of Gemworld Munich, the international jewellery trade fair, have been forced to cancel the event due to rising cases of Covid-19 in the area.
The fair, alongside its sister event The Munich Show, was slated to begin on 30 October, running until 1 November.
The Messe München trade fair centre was set to play host to the fair’s various jewellery, gemstone and “natural treasures” trading platforms.
In a public statement, event organisers the Keilmann family, said: “The current development of the corona pandemic has caught up with us shortly before our goal: With a heavy heart and after weighing all the facts, we decided on October 19, 2020 to cancel Gemworld Munich 2020.
“The cancellation of the fair was not easy for us, because we wanted to send a sign of hope. At the same time, given the circumstances, it would be irresponsible to our visitors, our exhibitors and the trades involved to delay this decision.”
They added: “We would have been delighted to see you personally in Munich for one of the few trade fair events this year.”
Currently, Gemworld Munich 2021 is set to go ahead from 22-24 October next year.
