Held at 60 Reade in Manhattan, New York, the NCDIA’s first annual Night of Color Diamonds Gala saw Rachminov presented with the first NCDIA Achievement Award for Education and Promotion of Natural Color Diamonds.

Rachminov, who is considered a world authority on fancy colour diamonds, won the award after a panel of industry associates chose to reward him for his devotion and effort on behalf of natural colour diamonds. The variety of colours he promotes and his work in advancing the awareness and knowledge of the field also helped the judges make their decision.

A third generation diamantaire, Rachminov’s efforts to educate the public about rare fancy colour diamonds include the writing and publishing of a 231-page album devoted to the gems, The Fancy Color Diamond Book. Rachminov also writes regularly about the diamonds for a variety of trade publications, and is currently in the process of writing a second book on the subject.
