Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a jewellery store was burgled on Warwick’s high street last week.
The robbery occurred around 2pm on Thursday, June 25, at Russell Lane Jewellers when four men were seen smashing the front windows of the shop with sledgehammers and taking jewellery.
Warwickshire Police reported that there was no injuries during the raid, although a “substantial amount” of property was taken. It is believed that two of the men may have run towards St Mary’s Church and two towards the castle.
Police have so far arrested a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old-man – who have been bailed until July 24 – on suspicion of the robbery, however police are still hunting for a further two suspects.
Detective Sergeant, Lisa Sears, said: “This was a brash incident in broad daylight. There were many people around and we are interested to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who can offer information that could lead to the identity of the offenders or recovery of stolen property.
“The blunt instruments used were sledgehammers, which have been recovered. They appeared new and may have been bought locally.”
Police said they are keen to identify and speak to a group of men seen near the private car park of Mitchell House, The Butts at about 10:30am the same day.
