The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has announced it is seeking a new chief executive to spearhead its growth.

The association said the successful applicant will have “proven management skills and a high level of experience” in gemmology or a closely related field.

The chief executive will oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation, the development and provision of education, the management of the membership and media departments, while also working closely with the association’s elected board to develop and deliver a strategic plan.

Gem-A said they will also ensure that all of the association’s legal, financial, and other governance requirements are met alongside representing the association internationally at gemmological conferences, gem industry trade shows, and relevant organisations and committees.

Nigel Israel, Chairman of the Gem-A council, said: “The position of CEO will provide a great opportunity for an energetic person to further their career as they lead the association into an ever expanding international presence, where its members are universally recognised as highly educated modern gemmologists.”

The current interim CEO, Nick Jones, was hired by the Gem-A council in October last year to steer the organisation through its fourth quarter and to guide the recruitment process for a permanent chief executive.
