The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) has appointed Menachem Prager as its new president, simultaneously creating a new chairman role.

Current president Harry Levy has been appointed to the newly created position.

Former vice-president Prager, who is the principal of a successful diamond company, has been a member of the bourse for 36 years and has served on the World Federation of Diamond Bourse’s (WFDB) international arbitration panel.

Levy has served the industry in a variety of capacities throughout his public career including several terms as vice-president of LDB, and also held the chairmanship of the British Jewellers Association (BJA). In addition, he is the current president of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A).

Victoria McKay, COO, said: “Mr Prager has been an active member of the executive team for some years and I have confidence that under his presidency we will continue to grow the organisation.

“Creating a chairman’s position for Mr Levy was by unanimous vote by our council of management, who felt that the title is a perfect fit to honour Mr Levy’s ongoing commitment to LDB and the industry. He remains an active member of the council of management”
