Greater Manchester Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a car they believe was used in an armed robbery on a jewellery store in Rusholme.

Shortly before 1:50pm on Sunday 12 June 2016 two men got out of a black BMW 5 series and smashed the windows of Royal Jewellers on Wilmslow Road, using a sledgehammer and a street grid.

The suspects reached inside the window and stole an unknown amount of jewellery, before fleeing in the BMW in the direction of Platt Lane.

Detectives believe the BMW was stolen from Lower Cheetham between Friday 10 and Saturday 11 June and are now appealing for the public’s help to trace the car.

Five men were arrested on Platt Lane in Moss Side at around 11.45am on Wednesday 15 June 2016 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody for questioning.

The car was bearing a false registration plate of RX58 HRO but may now be displaying a different plate.
