Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction, set to take place in Geneva on 12 May 2021, will include a collection from the adoptive daughter of Emperor Napoléon I.

The parure comprises nine sapphire and diamond pieces, including a tiara, a collier, a pair of earrings, two pendants and brooches, a ring, and a bracelet.

Some 38 sapphires were used to create the collection which belonged to Stephanie de Beauharnais, Grand Duchess of Baden, in the early 1800s.

Also featured within the set is the sapphire crown of Maria II Queen of Portugal, a piece that is topped with a Burmese sapphire in the centre.

The live auction is set to take place at the Four Season Hotel des Bergues, and will offer a “curated selection of historic and modern jewellery” from a range of time periods.

Moreover, items from Cartier, Boucheron, Tiffany and Co, Chaumet, Reza, Van Cleef and Arpels, and others will also be present at the event.

Alongside the imperial jewels, some of the auction’s highlights include a 53.53ct heart-shaped diamond pendant, a Chaumet Art Deco pearl and diamond brooch, and a Reza 19.18ct Colombia emerald and diamond ring.
