Fair Luxury, a collaboration of jewellery industry changemakers, has launched a jewellers survey in an effort to facilitate discussion between jewellers and suppliers.

The survey comes in response to the challenges that jewellers can face when aiming to work with responsibly sourced materials, especially due to gold availability and selection.

In turn, the survey intends to gather information regarding the current and potential demand for gold that is responsibly sourced and traded.

Moreover, Fair Luxury is looking to see if its community can come together to purchase minimum order quantities required by certain suppliers that sit out of reach of small independent manufacturers and retailers.

The body has called upon jewellers, retailers, and manufacturers to support the group in creating “a realistic picture” of gold consumption.

This includes “an idea of your annual gold use in grams” over the past two or three years, and “an idea of the percentage of gold you use by carat, colour, and source”.

Fair Luxury said that the overall data will be collated, anonymised, and used to gain an understanding of demand that can be presented to manufacturers.
