The National Association of Jewellers has appointed Mehdi Saadian as its new chair during its annual general meeting.

Saadian succeeds Adam Jacobs, who stepped down from the role following the cross-industry event.

The trade body also confirmed the addition of three new representatives to its national committee to balance its regional trade representation.

The newly elected committee members are Angela Evans of Siop Iard, Sammantha Maclachlan from the Institute of Registered Valuers, and Rachel Morrish from Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

Meanwhile, Heather Callaway and former chair Gary Wroe have both stepped down from the national committee following the conclusion of their terms.

Saadian said: “I would like to thank Adam Jacobs for his leadership, commitment and the clarity of direction he has given the NAJ, leaving the association in a stronger position with firm foundations for the future. It is a genuine privilege to take on the role of chair, and I do so with both gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility.

“I look forward to building on that momentum; strengthening our community, growing our membership, and ensuring a truly inclusive, member-focused approach to everything we do.”
