Staff and students at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery are celebrating after winning two prizes at the New Designers, an annual two-week exhibition celebrating the work of more than 3,000 new creative designers.
The School of Jewellery was awarded the ‘Best Stand’ prize, whilst student Lorna McNaught received an associate ‘Eco Award’ prize for her use of eco-friendly and ethically sourced metal in her work.
The New Designers exhibition “champions” design skills, shedding a light into the opportunities higher education has to offer and providing pathways upon graduation into the industry.
Professor Stephen Bottomley, head of the School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University, said: “The School has had much to celebrate in London this week with magnificent work on display.
“I’m delighted that the brave reworking of the degree show, mixing up work by graduating students on all of our BA and HND courses, has proved so successful.”
