Entitled ’12 necklaces’, Joanne Thompson’s exhibition will showcase a collection of necklaces designed around the starting point of a circle. By adapting ancient patterns stemming from chain mail techniques, her minimally-coloured pieces are described as contemporary jewellery that can be worn for special occasions and every day.

“Movement and comfort are important factors in the wearing of these unique handmade pieces, where each design results in jewellery that is durable, tactile, fluid, light and full of volume,” said Joanne.

‘Windswept’, Heather Woof’s exhibition, is a collection of jewellery inspired by the Scottish weather (pictured). A recent Edinburgh College of Art graduate, Heather works with hand-cut titanium and mild steel and aims to evoke a sense of dynamism in the otherwise static materials.

Heather describes the jewellery that makes up the Windswept collection as “reminiscent of the powerful natural forces that shape the landscape around us”.

12 Necklaces will be shown from 3 to 27 April and Windswept will be showcased from 5 to 29 June. For more information visit http://www.scottish-gallery.co.uk
