Startup online jewellery retailer JewelStreet.com is set to expand by creating five new roles in its head office.

The expansion plans follow the success of its recent crowdfunding campaign, through CrowdCube, where it raised £200,000 of seed money from the general public – beating its original target of £100,000.

JewelStreet, which has over 10,000 jewellery products live on its website, will be hiring for a sales manager, PR manager, search marketing manager and two PHP developers.

The firm also revealed the launch of its own awards, the JewelStreet Jewellery Lovers’ awards, which will be voted for by JewelStreet customers and not industry professionals.

There will be six awards up for grabs: Silver Designer Award, Fine Designer Award, Individual Design Award, Men’s Designer Award, Best Newcomer Award, and the Overall Winner for the designer or piece with the most votes overall.

Rob Passmore, founder and co-director of JewelStreet, said: “There are some fantastic industry jewellery awards but we felt that most of them are voted for by key industry figures. We wanted to launch an award that lets jewellery lovers really have their say and vote for their favourite designers and jewellery brands.

“People feel very passionately about their jewellery and the people that design and make it and we want them to have a chance to pass this message on.”
