Galio jewellers in St Albans has launched a design competition in conjunction with the St Albans Fashion Week (SAFW).
The competition will run alongside the SAFW’s ‘Creative Next Generation’ which aims to unearth the next generation of creative talent.
The overall winner of the competition will have the opportunity to have their design made in silver by Galio jewellers and will be awarded a weeks worth of work experience with jeweller Shaun Leane, at his new workshop in Mayfair.
The three runners up in the competition will also get the chance to have their designs displayed in store at Galio jewellers on George Street, St Albans.
Leane, whose celebrity clients include Cara Delevigne and Beyonce, said: “I’m very flattered to be able to work alongside my longstanding partner Galio for SAFW competition to discover the next rising talent. I feel it is essential we support aspiring artisans and designers to allow our creative industries to flourish and evolve.”
The competition is open to anyone under the age of 25 and applicants will need to design an “inspirational” piece of jewellery inspired by St Albans Cathedral, which could lead to the development of more ‘mainstream’ designs.
Submissions can be in the form of 3D drawings, paper sketches, photographs, collages, moodboards, or contestant can make a ‘muse’, but these will not be required to be to scale.
The winner will be awarded their finished piece and a trophy at the St Albans Fashion and Beauty Awards, held at the Odyssey Cinema in September 2015.
