Describe yourself in three words?
Passionate, determined, loyal
When you were at school, what did you want to be and why?
Through my early years I wanted to be a country vet and then once I did work experience I realised I wanted to work in the jewellery industry in some capacity.
How did you get to be where you are today?
My work experience was at Barkers of Faversham where my aunt Rose worked. Simon Barker, the owner, gave me a chance there and I became the Saturday boy for a few year. I then attended Loughborough University where I studied Art and Design before moving to Birmingham to study Jewellery Design.
Which aspect of your job do you enjoy and why?
I love multi-tasking and having a job with a wide variety of roles. In my position of design and marketing manager I get to use CAD, design, create adverts, brochures, send quotes for customers and more – every hour brings something different.
What is your proudest achievement?
Professionally it is building our bespoke service from scratch and making it into a key part of the business. In my personal life it is having my name printed in a Captain America comic and shaking the hand of Rickie Lambert.
What is the best advice you’ve been given in work or in life in general?
At work Tom Green, chairman of the company, told me to ‘fail quicker’. Mistakes happen, everyone makes them, so brush yourself off and move on to the next new exciting challenge.
What is your next goal?
Over this year to improve my CAD skills and meet Richard Bacon.
