The chief executive of Beaverbrooks’, Anna Blackburn, has been named among the North West’s top 20 business women, in recognition of her ‘outstanding leadership skills’.

It is the first time that Blackburn has been featured in the Top 100 Women in Business list, coming in at number 14.

Compiled by business publication The North West Business Insider, the list highlights the strength and skills of female business leaders across the region.

Speaking of the recognition, Blackburn said: “When I found out I was speechless, which is a rarity for me. There are so many successful and highly influential women in business who are doing great things for the wider business community and it’s a real honour to be named alongside them.”

She joined Beaverbrooks as a graduate trainee in 1998 and was appointed CEO 15 years later, achieving two firsts for the company; the first female CEO and the first non-family CEO.

Blackburn added: “Caring passionately about what you do and the team you work with is infectious and builds a culture that delivers success and is enjoyable too. Role modelling and leading by example is also a crucial part of Beaverbrooks’ culture and this has to come from the top.”

The company was recently named in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list for the 13th consecutive year.
