The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council ( GJEPC), a gem and jewellery trade body, has announced a partnership with eBay to launch an exclusive online jewellery store.

The store will support jewellery exporters, including MSMEs and brands, in boosting online jewellery sales with low startup costs.

Operating under the tag “make in India for the world”, the collaboration will provide market research and insight alongside local business development support.

Colin Shah, chairman of the GJEPC, said: “As part of our endeavour to constantly deliver value to members, GJEPC has collaborated with eBay, to establish an exclusive and dedicated store for jewellery on eBay.

“This would be an opportunity for all jewellery manufacturers to list their products and showcase them to the already existing buyer base of eBay.”

He added: “The partnership brings immense opportunities and benefits to GJEPC members especially to MSMEs and small to medium businesses, to reach out to a new segment of prospective customers.

“The value-added services provided by eBay will assist in market development and enhance the business-customer proposition of Indian jewellers.”

Through the partnership, GJEPC members will benefit from promotions and marketing, account management, eBay seller protection, exclusive promotional landing pages, and store design services.

Vidmay Naini, country manager for eBay India-CBT, said that the two organisations will “educate, support, and scale these sellers” through the marketplace.
