Birmingham jeweller Fei Liu has sold a one of a kind brooch for a five-figure sum at auction.

The brooch is entitled “Poppies in love” and “reimagines” the poppy flower in an abstract wearable form.

The two poppy heads are each encrusted with 13.2ct rubies, 12.62ct moonstone, and a bejewelled stem featuring 3ct tsavorites and 2.06ct diamonds, set in 18ct dual tones of black and white gold.

Designer Fei Liu said: “The sale of the ‘Poppies in Love’ brooch is marvellous and our highest yet in auction. Since reintroducing our more luxurious pieces, my team and I have seen our sales double from 2021. This is a good sign and shows an appetite from consumers for more exclusive investment pieces.”
