Bvlgari has officially inaugurated the expansion of its ‘Manifattura in Valenza’ site, now the “largest” single-branded jewellery manufacturing site in the world, spanning 33,000 sqm.
The expansion aims to double the site’s production capacity by 2029, creating over 500 new jobs, and houses the Scuola Bvlgari: the maison’s first publicly accessible training school focused on jewellery.
The expanded Manifattura reflects Bvlgari’s strategic vision of vertical integration, ensuring full oversight of the entire jewellery-making process, from raw material sourcing to the final creation.
Designed with a fully sustainable approach, the new facility operates on renewable energy, with a geothermal system and over 4,100 solar panels ensuring a substantially carbon-neutral footprint.
It covers up to 50% of its energy needs on-site, with the remainder supplied by 100% renewable sources. The facility also features optimised air treatment, precise temperature control, plastic-free policies, and water management systems, all aimed at minimising environmental impact while maximizing efficiency.
Since its original opening in 2017, the Manifattura Bvlgari has grown from 370 to over 1,100 employees, welcomed artisans from more than thirty nationalities, and evolved into a global symbol of Italian craftsmanship.
With the addition of a new floor, the site has grown from 3,400 to 4,400 square meters.
The newly established Scuola Bvlgari, the first publicly accessible jewellery training center by the Maison, will provide aspiring artisans with professional courses in goldsmithing and gemstones setting, ensuring the continuity of Valenza’s goldsmithing legacy and local savoir-faire.
Developed in partnership with TADS, and joining the existing Bvlgari Jewellery Academy, the school bridges traditional techniques with innovative methodologies.
Additionally, the enhanced facility now unites watch case and dial production under one roof, a “unique” setup in the industry, expanding its capacity for high-end case manufacturing.
Bvlgari is also investing in industrial equipment, thus keeping pace with evolving market requirements. The upgrades focus on modernising production methods, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing versatility and multi-skilled training, together with a new space dedicated to “Artmanship” – the fusion of Art and Craftsmanship.
Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari CEO, said: “Today marks a historic milestone not only for Bvlgari, but also for the territory of Valenza and the global jewelry industry. The expansion of our Manufacture is far more than a doubling in size and production capacity — it is the realization of a bold, contemporary vision for what the luxury industry must become in the future.
“This project is designed to integrate new crafts from the jewelry world – positioning us as even more engaged, skilled, and forward-thinking partners in our collaboration with external stakeholders – while enhancing education and training, fostering workplace well-being, and protecting the environment. By 2029, we will have created a total of 1,600 jobs, and we will remain dedicated to contributing to the excellence of this territory and to the art of jewellery.”
