Hatton Jewels, specialists in rare antiques, has officially transitioned into an employee owned company.

The boutique will now be independently managed by gemmologist and jewellery expert Rachel Smith. The company was originally founded by Nick Kay in 1999,

This decision sets Hatton Jewels apart as one of the few boutique jewellers in the UK to adopt a fully employee-owned structure, rather than opting for a hybrid, partial ownership structure.

The company stated that the model ensures that those driving the brand forward, the team itself, have both the freedom and the incentive to innovate and adapt.

It also believes that the move strengthens those core values, empowering the team to shape the future of the business while continuing to deliver exceptional service tailored to each individual client.

Located within London’s jewellery district of Hatton Garden, the boutique specialises in acquiring and re-homing of pre-owned and antique jewellery, including rare gemstones and natural pearls.

Kay said: “This isn’t just a structural change—it’s a statement about who we are. We’ve always believed that our strength lies in our team. By becoming 100% employee-owned, we’re honouring their expertise, creativity, and the passion they bring to our customers every day.”

Smith added: “This is an exciting new chapter for Hatton Jewels, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue to shape the future of the business.”
