Gold drops 2.8% in November hallmarking
Despite the drop in gold, overall hallmarking volumes increased during the period

Gold hallmarking fell by 2.8% in November 2018 compared with the same period the previous year, this is despite overall volumes increasing by 1.8% according to figures compiled by the Birmingham Assay Office.
The number of gold pieces hallmarked decreased from 492,537 in November 2017 to 478, 589 in 2018. However, silver and platinum both increased by 6.4% and 2.3% respectively. The total of silver hallmarked increased from 541,005 in 2017 to 575,580 in November this year. Platinum totalled 25,850 up from 25,274.
Palladium was down by 39.9% but overall the volumes from 1,064,578 in November 2017 to 1,083,483 in November 2018.
