National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) member John Henn has been appointed president of the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF), following his election at the organisation’s annual general meeting earlier this month.
Henn, managing director of jewellery retailer T A Henn, succeeds Gert Schyberg after serving on the BATF board since 2014. His appointment places a long-standing jewellery industry representative at the helm of the federation, which brings together the National Association of Jewellers, the Giftware Association and the Surface Engineering Association.
Alongside his role on the BATF board, Henn is an active member of both the NAJ and the Institute of Registered Valuers (IRV). He also represents the UK internationally through the NAJ’s membership of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation.
The appointment also strengthens the NAJ’s representation within the federation. Former NAJ chairs Gary Wroe and Heather Callaway were re-elected to the BATF board, while Helen Dimmick, director of Ainsworth Jewellers, joined as a new board member representing the jewellery sector.
The BATF represents businesses across the jewellery, giftware and surface engineering industries, providing advocacy, professional development and shared resources for its member associations.
Henn said: "I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Gert Schyberg for his leadership over the past two years and the significant progress achieved under his presidency. I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to building on the excellent work already underway, strengthening communication between the associations and ensuring the BATF continues to support collaborative initiatives that allow members to benefit from each other’s specialisms."
Dimmick added: "I’m pleased to represent the NAJ on the BATF Board, helping to ensure the needs of member associations remain at the heart of decision-making while promoting collaboration, shared values and strong standards across the federation."
