Online retail giant Amazon has introduced a new tiered referral fee for jewellery and watch selling partners across Europe.
According to the retailer, this will “significantly” reduce the cost of selling jewellery and watches priced over €250/£225. The changes are:
- Watches referral fee changing from a flat 15% in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, to 15% on the portion of the price up to €250/£225 and 5% above.
- Jewellery referral fee changing from 25% in the UK and 20% in Germany, France, Italy and Spain, to 20% on the portion of the price up to €250/£225 and 5% above.
A statement by Amazon read: “This equates to a 50% reduction in selling partner referral fees for a €1,000 watch sold in Germany and a 61% reduction for a £700 jewellery item sold in the UK. This change is expected to benefit customers by enabling selling partners to list a wider range of competitively priced jewellery and watches.”
