The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council (GCDC) is inviting applications from those both within and outside of the industry to join the group as a council member.
As part of its ongoing development as a non-profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), it was now seeking to “diversify and expand the range of skills and expertise” present amongst its voluntary members.
According to the group, the move forms a bid to “further elevate our remit to promote and drive excellence and innovation within the jewellery industry through the prestigious annual Awards and related industry activities”.
It marks the first time in history that the council has welcomed applications from both those working in the industry, as well as those outside of it.
The group noted it was open to any applications, including those from workers in the finance, design, education, advertising, fundraising, marketing, diversity and inclusion sectors, alongside those with specialist industry experience in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades.
Peter Crump, chairman of the GCDC, said: “Our voluntary Council Members form the core function of the GCDC. Their role is to provide expertise, experience, knowledge, advice and support to the Council and its Trustees to further the GCDC’s remit.
“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to be at the heart of a tremendously creative and innovative industry. We are seeking individuals with a great passion and commitment to both the industry and the objectives of the GCDC.”
The closing date for applications is Sunday 20 September 2020.
