On 25 August Michael will take to the skies to raise money for Retail Trust and children’s charity Together for Short Lives. Retail Trust is the only charity that looks after the needs of all three million people working in retail.

Speaking about the sky dive and his chosen charities, Michael said: “I thought this would be the ideal way to celebrate the start of the event and to raise money for two great charities. Retail Trust gives extra support to people working in retail sectors who need it, and sponsorship money will also go to a children’s charity which I support personally – Together for Short Lives.”

Both charities were delighted to be nominated as beneficiaries of the sky dive. Nigel J L Rothband, chief executive of Retail Trust, said: “A big thank you to Michael for choosing Retail Trust as one of the chosen charities to benefit from his sky dive. Employees in the jewellery industry are just a small proportion of the three million people we look after in retail. The money he raises will help Retail Trust to continue to provide these people with a safety net. Let’s hope he won’t be needing one of those during his jump!”

Helen Hopkins, national events manager at Together for Short Lives, commented: “We are delighted that Michael has chosen to support Together for Short Lives and hope he has an amazing time taking part in this breathtaking challenge. The money raised by sponsoring Michael will improve the lives of seriously ill children and their families and ensure they have the care and support they need, wherever they live and for as long as they need it.”
