Hugh Rice Jewellers continued to improve its stores throughout 2012, extending its flagship store at St Stephen’s Hull to 5,000 square feet of floor space, and creating a new store within a 17th century Grade II listed building at the heart of the conservation town of Beverley.

The Beverley shop, which was renovated and restored to retain the character of the historic East Yorkshire town, has now won ‘Built Heritage’ development of the year in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Chairman’s Awards for architectural excellence, at a glitzy ceremony at the Spa, Bridlington, on 7 May.

Mike Rice (pictured centre, receiving the award), director of the Hugh Rice Group, said: “So much planning, attention to detail and hard work went into making the Beverley store a very special place for our customers. It’s a great boost for the team to see our combined efforts being recognised as one of East Riding of Yorkshire’s finest developments.”
