With the expansion of the business, family-owned Flawless had to begin preparations for extra staff, and today sees post graduate designer Sam Towens joining the firm as an intern. He graduated from Goldsmith’s college with a BA in Silversmithing, Goldsmithing and Jewellery.

Townes is a Holts Future Jewel Competition award winner for his work in 3D jewellery design, and also won a Commended Award from the Goldsmiths Craft Council Awards in 2012 as well as the Marjo Design Competition in 2010.

In-house jeweller Robert Bicknell had previously voiced plans to take on two apprentices in business administration and customer service, most likely to be from the local college in Bromley in addition to the new designer.

He is also considering recruiting another diamond mounter apprentice after the company enjoyed a ‘whirlwind year’ of success which included the opening of a second store.

New recruit Towens said: “I am so thrilled at the opportunity to physically make the piece I created for the 3D Jewellery Design competition, it will be my dream come true and I am so thankful to Rob for the chance to work for Flawless.”
