Mappin and Webb has reopened in Birmingham after more than 20 years, with the Watches and Switzerland Group unveiling a refurbished showroom beneath the Burlington Hotel on New Street.

The 260 sq mt site follows a seven-month rebuild and sits close to the city’s Jewellery Quarter. The group said the location was chosen to reflect the jeweller’s historic links to craft and design.

Among the key features is a dedicated Rolex area at the centre of the showroom and an external Rolex clock – the first of its kind in the city. The space will offer the full range of the Swiss watchmaker’s collections.

A selection of Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watches is also available. These undergo authentication and servicing by the brand and are sold with a two-year international guarantee.

The showroom carries further watch brands including IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, TAG Heuer and Tudor. Its jewellery range includes David Yurman – which the group holds exclusively in the UK – Roberto Coin and Mappin and Webb’s own collections.

Craig Bolton, president of UK and Europe at the Watches and Switzerland Group, said the reopening represented a return to a city with a long tradition of making. He said: “We are incredibly proud to bring Mappin and Webb back to Birmingham – a city whose spirit and creativity mirrors our own.

“Just steps from the historic Jewellery Quarter, this opening feels like a true homecoming from a brand built on artistry, excellence and innovation. Birmingham has always been a city that celebrates making things beautifully, and we’re honoured to add to that legacy.”

The site joins other new-concept Mappin and Webb showrooms in York, Bluewater, Glasgow and Manchester. The group said the move formed part of a broader plan to strengthen its presence in major cities and to develop local partnerships, charitable work and education programmes.
