Holts Group boss Jason Holt has been awarded the inaugural Enterprise Policy Influencer award at the Celebrating Enterprise event.

The event, which took place at the House of Lords on October 23, was hosted by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) and Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI), and saw Holt pick up the award for his commitment to apprenticeships in the jewellery industry.

Holt set up Holts Academy to provide accredited jewellery apprenticeships and vocational training courses for the jewellery sector. He also authored the Holt Review which recommends ways to make apprenticeships more accessible to SMEs.

Holt said: “I am delighted to receive this award. Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for small businesses and young people, and it is a wonderful to be able to highlight that message by receiving this award today.

Ruth Lowbridge, executive chair of SFDEI and IOEE, said: “We feel very honoured to bestow Jason Holt with this award. Jason’s commitment to championing apprenticeships for young people and small businesses is a real inspiration to business owners everywhere.

“His tireless work in this area, which is provided on an entirely voluntary basis, is driven by his belief that apprenticeships hold the key in creating the future nation with a skilled and successful workforce.”

Other winners at the event included John Timpson CBE, CEO of the Timpson Group, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing, founder and president of Limkokwing University of the Creative Technology.
