A teenager has been charged following the theft of a £809 ring from a jewellery store in Ipswich.

Rolanders Saulys, of no fixed address, was arrested by police shortly after the incident having initially been detained by two members of the public.

The 19-year-old is accused of stealing a £809 ring from Carats in Buttermarket, after snatching it out of the hand of a member of staff.

Saulys was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and subsequently charged with theft. He was also charged with failing to provide a sample for the purpose of determining if he had a Class A drug in his body.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court later today, Tuesday, 8 December.
