Consumer searches for tennis bracelets have surged ahead of Wimbledon, according to data from Google Trends.

Austen and Blake said Google Trends data showed searches for “silver tennis bracelet” had risen by 20%, while searches for “diamond tennis bracelet” were up 10%. Queries for “what is a tennis bracelet” also doubled during the month.

The company attributed the increase to growing demand for jewellery that can be worn across a range of occasions. Tennis bracelets are characterised by a continuous line of diamonds or coloured gemstones set within a flexible band.

The style is commonly associated with the sport following an incident involving professional tennis player Chris Evert during the 1978 US Open, which helped popularise the term.

Sophie Lomax, head of design at Austen and Blake, said: “The enduring appeal of tennis bracelets lies in their understated sophistication. Characterised by a continuous line of meticulously set diamonds or coloured gemstones, the design offers a refined aesthetic that seamlessly transitions from daywear to evening occasions.

“Today’s luxury consumer is looking for pieces that combine beauty, versatility and lasting investment – tennis bracelets embody all three. They are elegant enough for formal events, yet subtle enough to become part of an everyday jewellery wardrobe.”

Lomax added: “The tennis bracelet is one of those rare jewellery designs that transcends generations and fashion cycles. Its enduring popularity reflects a growing appreciation for timeless luxury and exceptional craftsmanship.”
