A new exhibition called Bloomin’ Jewels will be held at Contemporary Applied Arts in Bankside later this month.

Celebrating ‘wearable art’, the exhibition will feature over 20 jewellery makers who depict flowers and foliage in their pieces. All makers at the exhibition are contemporary jewellers who have used unconventional materials and methods to create their jewellery.

Exhibitors include Donna Brennan, Sonia Cheadle, Gill Galloway-Whitehead, Andrew Lamb and Xenia Walschikow.

Special talks will be held by Geoffrey Munn, Christine Lalumia and guest curator Corinne Julius.

Julius said: “We have selected jewellers across the gamut of contemporary making. The results are not what most people will think of as ‘pretty flower pieces’. They are unexpected and in some cases quite challenging, but then contemporary jewellery is wearable art.”

A small loan of historical floral pieces will be on display at the exhibition.

Bloomin’ Jewels will take place from 27 April to 3 June and has been scheduled to run alongside the Chelsea Flower Show.
