Reading’s oldest independent jewellery retailer has launched its third installment of its Young Designer Competition.

Jacobs the Jewellers will hold the competition at its store between 6 – 30 June and will feature the work of ten designers from the competition collaborators Bishopsland Educational Trust..

The competition is in also collaboration with The Goldsmith’s Company, HS Walsh and Jelly Arts.

Competitors will exhibit one new work of silver and one new piece of jewellery, which will then be voted on by the public.The exhibition will also feature live craft demonstrations

There will be a VIP winner’s event on 30 June where the winners will be announced by Judith Cobham- Lowe, the first female Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths’ Company.

Cobham Lowe said: “It is a wonderful initiative backing emerging silversmiths and jewellers.”

Adam Jacobs, Jacobs the Jewellers partner, added: “After two years, we feel this year will be the best exhibition and competition yet. With 10 young artists participating, we know the standard will be high and we’re so happy to be able to work with all our partners on such a great event”.
