Family-owned luxury jewellers, Laings, has announced the opening of a new Tag Heuer boutique on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street.
The news comes after Laings announced that it is investing £5m in a new flagship store in Rowan House on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street.
The new store, which will open later this year, is the first mono-brand boutique with the Tag Heuer brand, for the luxury Scottish company.
Laings said the launch signifies “a strengthening relationship between Laings and Tag Heuer, cementing an already existing partnership”.
Aligning with Laings’ ambitious wider programme of expansion underway in central Glasgow and Southampton, the Tag Heuer boutique will be located in Glasgow’s style mile, in a site previously occupied by high street fashion label, Diesel.
The new store will see eight jobs created, including a store manager, supervisor, and sales roles.
While Laings has an existing Tag Heuer offering within its current Glasgow showroom, the showroom will include an interactive display area showcasing “cutting-edge” technology, as well as a “luxurious” lounge, along with the “usual level” of privacy and confidentiality, which has become “synonymous” with Laings.
The move is part of Laings’ multi-layer growth strategy to build on its legacy as “a leading destination for luxury jewellery and watches”.
According to the jewellery retailer, the partnership highlights “a key emphasis for Laings on the importance of investment in bricks and mortar retail, despite the current economic landscape”.
It also said that it is committed “to ensuring luxury retail experiences are accessible to clients and has confidence in the chosen location within one of the most premium postcodes in the city”.
Stuart McDowell, managing director at Laings, said: “Our TAG Heuer Boutique will offer an immersive experience for our clients, showcasing its world-renowned Swiss watchmaking expertise, passion for precision and cutting-edge technology.
“With a wealth of collections on display, we are looking forward to welcoming clients into the store – whether it be their first venture into luxury Swiss watches or extending a growing passion for TAG Heuer. Our boutique will be the perfect environment for clients to engage with our in-store Tag Heuer specialists and enjoy a truly exceptional experience.”
Rob Diver, managing director of Tag Heuer UK and Ireland, added: “We are delighted to be opening this new Tag Heuer boutique in Glasgow in partnership with Laings, which will be our first Mono-brand boutique together. This new space will enable us to offer our customers a fully immersive in-store brand experience in the Glasgow city centre, and is part of a new exciting journey with Laings.”
