NFRN urges retailers to follow guidance on face coverings

The Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN), which represents 15,000 stores in the UK and Ireland is urging its members to follow its guidance on mandatory face coverings being introduced in retailers from tomorrow (24 July).

The association said as some rules vary across England and Scotland, such as who is exempt from wearing face coverings within stores, it is “vital” that retailers follow the advice and information that corresponds to their country.

Wales and Northern Ireland have yet to make face masks compulsory within stores.

It also revealed a new poster, for English and Scottish members to display within their stores, has been created by the NFRN to remind customers about the new legislation.

NFRN national president Stuart Reddish said: “Members are reminded that face masks are to become mandatory within stores in England from tomorrow ( July 24th). I urge all retailers to ensure that they have read  our guidance.

“This clearly states all of the key information regarding the new legislations – for both Scotland and England – and the federation’s current advice.”

He added: “We also urge all store owners to download the NFRN’s poster, which reminds customers about the new laws, to display within their shops.”
