Bullion manufacturer and jewellery producer Baird & Co has opened a new sales office in Singapore.
The office, which opened “for furniture to be wheeled in” today, will comprise around three sales people, and is expected to be an English-speaking operation.
The firm says that Singapore has been seen as a safe haven for investors, making it an attractive market in which to sell the firm’s gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium investment bars.
Alex Baird, whose father founded the business back in 1967, said: “Initially it will be quite a small office, of around two or three people, as it’s not for manufacturing, it’s for sales.” He added that the doors opened on Thursday for the first time, but the operation is expected to be fully up and running within weeks.
The office, which adds to the firm’s existing locations in London and Glasgow, is expected to attract a range of clients from private investors to large institutions.
