British designer, Gary Carter, has launched a new jewellery brand which draws on tattoos for its inspiration.
Carter unveiled the brand, CarterGore, at the Great British Tattoo Show at Alexandra Palace. He gained recognition in his former role as the MD of ChloBo for his “cult status” silver stacking bracelets.
With his new venture, Carter has explored tattoo and carnival culture and features hand drawn creation in his pieces.
The brand currently has two collections; Tattoo Candy which is inspired by ink iconography and Carnival Wonderland with customisable messages written in a vintage carnival font.
Carter said: I have always made jewellery but after creating quite a few tattoo inspired commissions I found myself falling in love with tattoo culture and the true artists that work in this amazing field. The more I researched and sketched, the more obsessed I got. Six months down the line CarterGore was born.
“Each piece in this collection really does come from the heart, in fact I incorporate hearts in every piece I do, a little signature that it’s a CarterGore piece.”
The collection is available online at the CarterGore website.
